JAKE JUST WASN’T THE ALIENS’ TYPE

Crystal Head Sculpture

The aliens took Roy
but not Jake.
The two were strolling
down Main Street
when a yellow light
suddenly honed in on Roy,
and sucked him up
into the sky.
And Jake was making out
with Martha
on a park bench
when that same light
snaffled her up.
And playing golf
with his brother, Dan
when Dan
was whisked away
from the fairway
at the sixteenth hole.
All three
were returned unharmed.
Jake is also unharmed
but, sadly,
not as the result
of anything.
